A dental crown is a cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth to protect it and restore it to full function. The traditional process meant two appointments, a week or two of waiting with a temporary crown in place, and then a return visit to fit the final restoration. For most patients that is inconvenient at best and uncomfortable at worst.
At Globe Dental in Nantwich we use CEREC technology to do the whole thing in one visit. Your tooth is prepared and digitally scanned, the crown is designed on-screen and then milled from a ceramic block at the practice while you wait. The finished crown is fitted and adjusted the same day. The entire process typically takes two to three hours from start to finish.
The crown is made from high-quality ceramic that closely matches the colour and appearance of your natural teeth. It is the same quality as a traditional laboratory crown, produced in a fraction of the time.Full pricing is on our fees page. You can also read our complete guide to same day crowns if you want to know more before booking.
From preparation to fitted crown, the entire process happens in a single visit at Globe Dental. There is no temporary crown to manage between appointments, no second booking to fit around your schedule and no waiting for an external laboratory to return your restoration. For patients who want the problem sorted quickly and properly, this makes a significant practical difference.
CEREC crowns start with a digital scan of your prepared tooth rather than a traditional impression. The crown is then designed on-screen and milled from a ceramic block at the practice. This removes the variables that come with sending impressions to an external laboratory and waiting on the result. What you get is a precisely fitted restoration produced and checked by your own dental team before you leave.
The ceramic used in CEREC crowns is shade-matched to your surrounding teeth before milling, producing a restoration that blends in naturally once fitted. The material is strong, biocompatible and kind to the opposing teeth. Patients are often surprised by how closely the finished crown resembles the natural tooth it is replacing.

Most practices offering crowns still rely on external dental laboratories, which is why the traditional process takes two visits spread across one to two weeks. At Globe Dental our CEREC milling unit is on-site in Nantwich. Your crown is produced at the practice on the day of your appointment. This is not something many independent practices across Cheshire can offer, and it is what makes same day treatment genuinely possible rather than just a marketing claim.
CEREC crowns at Globe Dental are designed and fitted by our GDC-registered dental team under the clinical leadership of Dr Kolade Orungbemi (GDC: 104618) and Dr Yetunde Orungbemi (GDC: 104686). Our April 2025 CQC inspection confirmed all clinical regulations were met. Digital technology improves consistency and speed, but the preparation, design decisions and final adjustments still depend on the skill and judgment of the dentist doing the work.
Globe Dental has been independently owned and run by Dr Kolade and Dr Yetunde Orungbemi since 2015. We know that fitting multiple dental appointments around work and family life is not always straightforward. Same day crown treatment was something we invested in specifically because it makes the experience significantly better for patients, and it is one of the things our Nantwich and Cheshire patients tell us they value most about coming to us.
A same day crown appointment at Globe Dental typically takes two to three hours from start to finish. The appointment is longer than a standard visit because the full process from preparation through to fitting all takes place in one session. Most patients find a single longer appointment considerably more straightforward than managing a temporary crown and returning for a second visit two weeks later.
